Peta Siddall - In Peace With God

April 26, 1999

Dear Friends of Peta,

Peta Siddall- the Prince of Dance - died this morning at 5:30 am. His family was by his side when he took his last breath here on earth and passed into God's hands.

The funeral arrangements are still to be set.

I am in a strange space right now- in shock and in disbelief, but at the same time, I am at peace that Peta is not suffering any longer. I am "floating" - not really able to focus. It hit me at several moments today that Peta & I will no longer be "we".  I wept,  but then I thought about all the love he gave me and how lucky I am to have been so close to him as a friend and dance partner over the past year. I reminisced about things we did together, the laughter we shared and the conversations we had... but then, in my mind, he became alive again and it took away the sadness. I am confused. It all happened so fast. Three weeks ago, Lynn and I walked Peta to the hospital- now he's gone....

Peta Siddall in Critical Condition in LA Hospital
April 21, 1999

On April 12, 1999, close friends of Peta and I  found out that Peta was very ill and within hours we admitted him into the hospital because he was weak and becoming mentally incoherent.  We were terrified.  We knew that he had been ill for several weeks and we were constantly asking him about what his doctor was saying but Peta kept saying that it was just a cold or stomach flu and we just trusted that he was taking care of it.  When he started to talk as though he was hallucinating I decided to take action.  We found his prescription bottle for the nausea and called his doctor.

A few hours later, he was mumbling as though he was talking in his sleep, not making sense, jumping from one thing to another, confused about where he was, so tired, so weak, trembling.  I begged the doctors to take action, do something fast because he was declining so quickly.  They couldn't do anything until they could test him and discover what was wrong with him.

I had to call his family in England to tell them the tragic situation.  They were devastated and within a few days, they arrived at LAX where we took them straight to the hospital to see Peta.  Unfortunately, Peta was not very aware that they were there and after talking with one of Peta's team of doctors, they were crushed and knew that there was the possibility of death.

There is an infection that is affecting his brain, but they cannot detect yet what is causing it.  After several spinal fluid tests and brain scans, Peta is still incoherent and in stable condition in the intensive care unit at LA County Hospital.

Kath and Derek (Peta's Mom & Dad) and Kevin are all so overwhelmed with the amount of loving friends Peta has and how many visitors he has had pouring out there concern and compassion for him.  There is a line-up of people everyday waiting to see him.

We are having a BENEFIT IN PETA'S NAME Friday May 7th, at LONDANCE STUDIO in 3625 W. MacArthur Blvd., Suite 307 - Santa Ana, CA 92704 - (714) 850-0676
