What kind of criteria do the applicants need to have to participate?
All that is required of the applicants is the desire to participate in the course. No prior dance training is required. We will offer the training from the ground up. Of course, we will receive applicants with differing levels of ability, but that will not be a problem for this course. Everyone will be getting valuable information to make them trained and confident dance instructors.
How long are the days and what kind of teaching techniques will you be focusing on mostly?
The training is 6 hours per day with meal breaks.
We will be focusing on every aspect of the profession, from: Dance training, Latin movement technique, learning different roles (lead and follow), learning how to teach, musical training, history of salsa training, business training, professional etiquette, lesson planning...etc.
What kind of a response have you received about your course?
We have been getting a great response from people locally and internationally. Each year we have more and more student teachers coming from areas where salsa is gaining new popularity (i.e. Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia and Japan.)
Many who cannot make the time for this session are waiting for the next available training course.
Are there still available spots for your next course date?
Yes, we still have spots available. Please call our toll free number 1-877-725-7284 or (323) 261-0664 to speak to our staff. You can register by phone, or sending in your money order to:

It's great to see that something like this is being "finally" offered. I have seen too many people that believe they are instructors just because they have taken a few classes and dance socially on occasions. From what I have read regarding your background, you seem to understand what it takes to be a successful instructor and how much work and dedication is necessary in order to earn the right to truly call yourself an "Instructor."
I couldn't agree with you more in that teaching is something that requires training and experience to be truly professional. There is a responsibility in teaching eager-paying students who want to be taught correctly and with professional etiquette.
I love my profession and the requests of many eager to-be-teachers, to offer this course, has inspired me to share the skills and knowledge I attained through years of formal training and 15 years of teaching experience.
I have trained many teachers internationally for the past 8 years and am excited to finally offer this course at home in Los Angeles, California.
Warm Regards,

Testimonials From Teacher's Course Participants
To Josie from Molly
Dear Josie,
Before I took your workshop I felt some confusion and discomfort in learning the basic salsa patterns. Your steady, reaffirming, supportive teaching style helped me to build a strong base for this dance. And it was easy and fun too!! An added Benefit! I feel confident I can now teach salsa and enjoy helping others to learn this sizzling Latin dance. Thanks, also, in helping us with basic teaching methodology.

Dear Josie,
I had such a fun time learning salsa from you. I was so impressed by your technique, style, and teaching methods. I was even more impressed and thrilled to learn what a wonderful personality you have and how fun and valuable you make each moment you’re with us. I’m looking forward to learning more from you and having lots more fun. You have really inspired me to teach salsa in a way that makes it fun and easy and inspirational. Thanks so much.

To Josie from Justin
As an aspiring Salsa instructor I found my time with Josie invaluable. She and her partner Alvaro make an awesome team. Their blend of hard work and humor make lessons extremely productive.
My group not only took classes but was given the opportunity to observe and assist in her large group lessons. We all agreed that her instruction is clear, easy to follow and most of all FUN!!!
Josie’s passion for Latin dance is extremely contagious. Taking instructor classes from a teacher and performer of her caliber has given me a foundation of technique and confidence with which to excel in Latin Dance instruction.

To Josie from Laurie
It was obvious from the beginning that our time with Josie and Alvaro would be very productive and motivating. They had energy, passion and a love for salsa that was highly contagious. Josie’s training was well rounded and comprehensive, but it was her love for the dance that inspired me most. Not only did she leave us with the confidence to teach salsa, but she initiated the spark of excitement and love for the dance in us that will no doubt be recognized by our future students. I can’t thank Josie and Alvaro enough for their time and patience. For some reason I now have this uncontrollable urge to practice ‘shine’ moves at home in my PJ’s…
Peace and Thanks,
Laurie O’Neill
Dearest Josie,
Greetings from Boulder! My staff is so great! They agreed immediately to write and tell you what a terrific time they had with you both. Josie, there are no words to tell you how
grateful I am to you for coming to Boulder and working with all of us. Your five day visit with us changed my school from being weak on the salsa “side” to becoming one of the hottest places in Colorado to learn Salsa. Your way of instructing was informative and educational for the Ananda teachers. You were also a perfect example for my teachers of how a good teacher conducts great group classes. I felt all along that your teaching philosophy was in perfect sync with the Ananda philosophy. We are committed to making sure our students are learning to dance AND having fun while they’re doing it. You made that happen for my teachers, my students and, of course, for me too. Thank you. On a professional level I feel the Ananda Academy has made a wonderful connection with you and your business. Having you as a “partner” in our school gives us even more credibility and visibility among the other dancers in our community. It is with great pride that we will include you in our marketing and advertising to let the world know that Ananda is a serious dance institution. So serious in fact that we bring in only the best. Of course, in the world of Salsa the best is Josie Neglia! We look forward to having you back in April and to many more workshops, training sessions and just dancin’ together in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Gabriel Wilson
